CNN.com has coverage of an AP story that points out something that frankly, I had no idea about - ABC’s “Drew Carey Show” is going off the air this summer. I had noticed that it was an on-again/off-again show on ABC proper, and was more likely to be found elsewhere in syndication. But definitely a show that you might leave on if you casually flipped channels and landed on it.
The article asks if viewers were just sick of Mr. Carey - or weren’t able to figure out when the show was on, since it has been on every single day of the week, including in four different timeslots on Wednesdays. In any case, Drew & crew won’t get quite the fanfare that the “Friends” folks will, but it adds another show that’s been out there for more than three seasons that’s vanishing in the next few months. Off to the scrap heap super-syndication land for “Friends”, “Frasier”, and “Drew Carey”!
