Kim Chandler writes in Wednesday’s Birmingham News about an effort by Alabama state representative Gerald Allen to ban “novels with gay protagonists and college textbooks that suggest homosexuality is natural” from any library or institution that receives state funding.
If the bill became law, public school textbooks could not present homosexuality as a genetic trait and public libraries couldn’t offer books with gay or bisexual characters.
Slippery slope, indeed.
