AP’s David Bauder reports this afternoon that CNN’s Aaron Brown is leaving the network just as Anderson Cooper’s program was extended to a second hour - leaving Brown with nowhere to go, at least at the moment.

Strongly protest the removal of Aaron Brownfrom the 10:00pm news hour. You have lost and intellengent , articulate and compassionate newscaster. Mr Brown’s interviews were sophisticated and enlightening. You have created a large deficiency through his absence. What is one to view at 10:00 pm– not Anderson Cooper.

I am a Canadian who knows probably more of the US than most Americans Thanks to the good reporting of Aaaron brown. I was totally surprised he was replaced by Anderson Cooper. Aaron has the best voice in American Television. I think I will switch to another Channel for my 10 o clock entertainment. A canadian who cares.n

I am very disappointed that Aaron Brown has left CNN. I found that he was the most intelligent, presented the news without sensationalizing the information and I always felt that because he was so well informed I was getting a more real picture of what was happening politically. I never sensed that he was a part of the media manipulations that is becoming the norm.
What a shame. I will find another station to view.

I looked forward to 9:00 central time and watching Aaron Brown. For me he is the most trusted newsman. What a shame to lose him! I also like Anderson Cooper, but am beginning to believe CNN is going to kill him. What does he work now, 26 hours a day? We need Aaron Brown, hope he will soon appear on one of the major networks or back at CNN with a great deal of respect

No longer will we watch CNN news, now that Aaron Brown is gone and Anderson Cooper is 3 hours later in our time zone. Goodbye

I am very disappointed. Aaron Brown was a class act, the best of CNN. I hope he goes to a major network that we can watch. Anderson gets too involved with the news.

Aaron Brown was the reason that I started watching CNN. I have to say that I rarely watch CNN anymore. Cooper is good, but should not take the place of Brown. Whichever network gets Brown will be lucky. He made news enjoyable, put a personal touch on stories, and showed that he really cared. Big mistake CNN!!!!

What was CNN thinking? Anderson Cooper is good, but Brown was the best. Who wants to watch 2 hours of Cooper? Not me & hopefully CNN will wake up before it is to late. I look forward to watching Brown on another network.

As a Canadian viewer of C.N.N., I am deeply saddned that Aaron Brown has left your network. What were you thinking? This man delivered the news with sophistication and intelligence. I have learned more about the news from the United States and around the world from Mr. Brown, as his pleasant articulate manner, made it a pleasure to listen. He is truly a class act and will be saddly missed. I will not stop looking and hoping to find him on another station. A very sad day for C.N.N. and the Canadians who adore him.

I was very saddened to see Aaron Brown leave CNN. I join with other Canadians in expressing my dissapointment that Aaron was ousted from Newsnight. I watched Aaron faithfully every night since Newsnight’s inception. I too will search the other channels and hopefully find Aaron Brown on another news network.

Neither Wolf Blitzer (wears me out with sounding as if he’s going to five fires) nor Anderson Cooper can compare to Aaron Brown, an exceptionally intelligent, caring newscaster. CNN certainly goofed this time. I’ll look for Aaron Brown elsewhere.

I looked forward to watching Aaron Brown nightly. His laid back personality and his professional attitude made him very enjoyable to watch. It was like having an old, well informed and trusted friend in my living room. By releasing Mr. Brown, CNN has alienated many of his loyal followers. Henceforth, I will not be watching CNN and will find another source for the latest news.

I too was shocked at the departure of Aaron Brown from CNN. Being a Canadian, it was only thru him that I got a feel for real America. I will miss him and will never watch CNN again He was the only reason for me to watch that station. Anderson Cooper cant possibly follow in his shoes, not ever.

CNN: Bye bye now! Your advertisemnet with the “teenage brat” producer (probably some influential person’s daughter– who would not have made it on her own) demonstrates your lack of understanding about what works. Hurricane, hurricane, hurricane! What on earth will you talk about when you need to have a thoughtfful opinion. We’ve moved on– bye bye now!
15 Irene // Nov 14, 2005 at 4:03 am
CNN what a mistake!! 2hrs of Anderson never that is over kill. Aaron Brown was one of the best. Believe something much better is in store for Aaron Brown, sorry CNN it is your great loss. Not impressed with Wolf and his Situation room.
16 Gary Quatmann // Nov 14, 2005 at 3:42 pm
Arron Brown has the respect and trust other reporters on CNN will never acheive. Perhaps Mr. Brown will move on to a network that is respected as much as he. Maybe take over the soon retiring Jim Lehrer slot?
17 imqwer // Nov 14, 2005 at 10:36 pm
I am a huge fan of Aaron Brown. He is the best amongst Wolf, Larry, Paula, Lou and Anderson. The way he covered the stories was suberb. I think CNN has made a big mistake.
I hope Aaron Brown to see at 9:00 CST on some other channel like MSNBC.
18 Mathew // Nov 14, 2005 at 11:08 pm
Aaron Brown made CNN a good channel for the news. Good bye Aaron spells good bye CNN.
19 Mert // Nov 15, 2005 at 3:50 am
BIG MISTAKE! Aaron Brown is the best. I’ll find him elsewhere.
20 rosaleen // Nov 15, 2005 at 4:03 am
Good Bye CNN. Boring situation room and scattered Anderson Cooper. Someone in charge really goofed this time. I am waiting to see where Aaron Brown surfaces and there I will be. Hurricanes only happen for about one month per year then what is Cooper going to report on. Who ever thought of putting Blitzer on for three hours running. You have lost the only bit of class you had. Good Bye

I, too am sad, disappointed, and a little angry at CNN for letting Aaron Brown go. His program was smart intelligent and thought-provoking. I looked forward each night to getting the news of the day from someone I trusted. The super hype of Anderson Cooper is already wearing thin. Remember Bill Hemmer who became a star on CNN after his reporting of the 2000 vote count from Florida. Where is he now?
Read the memo sent to CNN staffers by Jon Klein about Aaron’s leaving. Doesn’t it read like the resume of someone that CNN would want. The baloney about leaving to spend time with his family has been used by every corporation, large or small and I thought was really passe.
CNN is no longer on our television in prime time.

I have tried to accept the removal of Aaron Brown but cannot. I will stop watching Anderson Cooper at CNN. Mr. Brown was the most reasonable broadcaster on any network. How stupid can CNN be?
23 chris dejong // Nov 16, 2005 at 4:59 am
Well here we are, after a bunch of the old geezers like Dan Rather et all overstaying their welcome, my generation (40-60) with the canning of Aaron Brown has been denied a commentator from our agegroup. This while our age group is the obvious pig in the python. I found Aaron Brown a welcome relief after the empty parrot style of Wolf Blitzer, lot of noise, no substance. kind of reminds me of Bush, they both certainly benefit from a teleprompter. Lord only knows why he is having the following he -may- have, it probably explains why America is regarded the way it is in the world.
24 LMC // Nov 16, 2005 at 6:01 am
Good bye CNN. You can keep Cooper and Blitzer but my family will no longer be watching. Aaron Brown is the best, and we will miss him. I will look forward to watching whichever network Aaron Brown signs on with.
25 Teresa W. LI // Nov 16, 2005 at 9:01 am
I’m very like to watched and listened the stuff from Mr. Brown. He is the most trusted newsman in the world. All the programs from the CNN was very fast, rountine and duplicate, just like a fast food. However, Aaron give a time for the viewer to relax, a time for thinking and learning the indepth news, somthing like eating in a restaurant. CNN needs this kind of program and Mr. Brown. I will very miss him and hope to see him in other network soon.

When Aaron Brown disappeared from CNN I remarked
that apparently his news reporting was not biased
enough for the CNN managers. I found Aaron Browns
style and reporting of the news very refreshing
after listening to the bias of other reporters.
I will not be tuning in to Anderson Cooper and
be waiting for Brown to appear on another network
27 Bettimae // Nov 16, 2005 at 4:14 pm
I wrote to CNN immediately when they began listing both Aaron Brown and A. Cooper on NewsNight. I had an uneasy feeling that CNN was going to make them co-anchors. I wanted my news show back with A. Brown, just the way it was. Now I am dismayed to learn that he has left CNN. That network has been promoting A. Cooper as its rising star. I am so disappointed in the loss of Aaron Brown. I looked forward to his news show in the evening. Anderson Cooper is too brash and lacks the depth that Aaron Brown has. I won’t be watching CNN for the news. I hope that A. Brown has his own show on another network–soon!
28 Matthew Podoba // Nov 16, 2005 at 10:04 pm
Chalk up another boneheaded move for CNN in the war of attrition with FOX News for ratings, at the expense of professionalism. Aaaron Brown is a shining star in the all too dark skys of opinion driven talking heads. I will not go out of my way to tune in Anderson Cooper. Brown is relaxed and charming on the air. I will miss drinking my 10:00pm tea while watching his broadcast. If there is any justice, he will appear on a rival network before long.
29 Peter P // Nov 16, 2005 at 11:01 pm
I can understand CNN getting rid of Connie and replacing her with Paula. But trading Aaron Brown for Cooper is a dumb move. I will be waiting for Aaron Brown to find a new home on another network soon!
30 Manette Britt // Nov 16, 2005 at 11:37 pm
I can hardly beleive that CNN would allow such a top-notch reporter to leave the broadcast. What will Larry King do without his “man” Aaron Brown? As much as I like Anderson Cooper, he is not the compassionate and articulate reporter that Brown is. I watched CNN for over 20 years, sorry, but I will now find another station. So long.
31 Ethal Briller // Nov 17, 2005 at 2:21 am
Delighted to see so many people agree with me on the quality of Aaron Brown’s reporting. He really listened to his interviewees; other reporters usually are too busy preparing their next question or personal opinion. I got very weary of seeing Anderson Cooper - all I could think of: what disaster is coming next? The least you guys can do is let us know where Aaron is now. Hope you or someone lets the paper press know where he is. Uh oh - since I rarely watch CNN anymore I won’t be there to find out.
32 dwf // Nov 17, 2005 at 3:49 am
What is CNN without Aaron? I looked forward to him every night and no longer watch CNN. I will be looking for him on another network and hopefully he will be somewhere for without him the news is no longer the same. I know the majority of the people feels the same way. Blah, Anderson Cooper.
33 midmac // Nov 17, 2005 at 6:04 am
I just returned from 2 weeks in Asia to discover that Aaron Brwon is gone from CNN. I like both Aaron and Anderson,. Why did this have to be an “Or” rather than an “And”. Both are really good. Anderson the bright and bushy tailed; Aaron having the nearest in credibility to Walter Cronkite among today’s TV journalists. This was
a bit time error at CNN, abd will do nothing in the battle with FOX. I trust some other network, maybe ABC, will understand the value that Mr. Brown brings to prime time news.
34 D Kaiser // Nov 17, 2005 at 8:16 am
Aaron Brown was one of the few anchors on CNN that helps to keep your news a little more rounded, not completely leaning to the right. How disappointing, I will no longer be the dedicated watcher I was. I appreciated Brown’s honesty. Maybe you could get Rush Limbaugh to do a spot. Where has Darren Kagen been. I’ll be watching for another news station.i

I miss Aaron Brown so much. I can’t watch Anderson Cooper; his addition was distracting during Newsnight. Did CNN ever consider that the reason ‘ratings went up’ during the 2 hour Newsnight was because AARON BROWN was on for the extra hour??? Aaron was the reason I stayed up late. Cooper does not appeal to thoughtful, mature, intelligent adults; and, younger viewers get their news from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (as do thoughtful, mature, intelligent adults!). How does Cooper plan to host the broadcast in studio AND be on the scene for the next hurricane? Goodness, Cooper is ridiculous ~ remember the scene with him getting wind-whipped on a balcony in Florida? He dramatically reported a huge potted plant blowing off and crashing WHILE standing next to a matching potted plant. What a dope. Now CNN only has too loud AND too boring programs. I have not been able to stand CNN for even one minute. I hate seeing CNN become so crass. Aaron Brown and the original original ‘whip’ were brilliant. I hope to see Aaron Brown soon.
36 Suzanne Markov // Nov 17, 2005 at 4:28 pm
Swapping Aaron Brown for Anderson Cooper? What a miserable difference, what a loss to viewers. If it weren’t for Lou Dobbs, I’d never be watchng CNN at all.
37 Kate Phelan // Nov 17, 2005 at 6:04 pm
Aaron Brown was one of the only reasons to watch CNN. Replacing this intelligent, toughtful and compassionate man with a lightweight, latest ‘in person’ is like serving dessert but no meat and potatoes.
38 Diane // Nov 17, 2005 at 8:12 pm
Aaron Brown was a regular part of our evening. Aaron always managed to ask the questions we were asking. He was low key, kind of like he was right in our family room having a chat with us about the days events. His “no spin format” enabled me to focus on important thoughts and events. I can’t stand hype, and although Anderson Cooper can be good, he is selling out to the hype. I’ve seen Anderson relate to people in a real, and concerned way, but truly the new two hours seems to be more of a TV magazine show. I don’t want the news dressed up and hyped. Bring back Aaron, until you do we’ve chosen to retire to the den and read.
39 Anna Linden // Nov 17, 2005 at 10:58 pm
I cant believe CNN (cnn) dropped Aaron Brown, he is the best. He is real, I like Cooper too but he is no Aaron. Remember Wolf and “Count down Iraq” that helped get our country into Iraq, and yet he is still there but AARON is out.
40 Htut Win // Nov 17, 2005 at 11:08 pm
I have been a regular of Newsnight for a long time and I sincerely think CNN has made a big mistake. I profoundly miss Aaron Brown’s thoughtful and eloquent style of news reporting. I hope CNN finds Brown a slot again or Brown finds a slot on another network. Otherwise, I guess I have no choice but to swtich to BBC worldnews for good.

together we can move things!

I will no longer watch CNN at 10 p.m. Aaron Brown’s intelligent reporting and questioning cannot be matched by anyone, let alone Anderson Cooper. What were you thinking, CNN? Wherever Aaron resumes his career, I will resume watching. Only hope something positive will be announced in the near future.
44 Ed Weir // Nov 20, 2005 at 8:17 am
CNN’s been sliding for years. Brown’s show was a hopeful upswing. Cooper’s OK, but he takes 2hrs to tell us less than Brown did in 1hr. Brown was thoughtful and presented opposing sides with skill while Cooper bludgeons us with overkill continuing to confuse verbiage with information. Since CNN headline’s become a TV magazine I’m off to NPR’s BBC broadasts (radio of all things). At least they know that there’s more to the news than Huricanes !
45 Brian // Nov 21, 2005 at 1:20 am
I agree with all the others comments about
Aaron forced out his show. Aaron had a very
positive spin on the way he presented the news stories, he will be missed. I really liked
both Aaron & Cooper, they both did a great job, but I think the way they forced him out really sucked. Aaron went to school here in the minneapols are, so I had a soft spot for him. Change is never easy to accept, but
we all must move on. Don’t get me wrong, I
will miss him big time, I just hope CNN can
fill his void in a way that doesn’t come back
to bite them. Please remove Wolf Bliter from the airwaves A>S>A>P.

I am very saddened by Arron Brown’s not being at cnn anymore. I guess i will have to watch the 10 oclock news somewhere else.
Espically miss The Morning Papers.
47 chauncey // Nov 22, 2005 at 6:01 am
Add me to the growing list of dissapointed fans who watched your 10 pm shannel because of mr Brown. I will protest in my little way by watching MSNBC during that hour. What a mistake.
48 Nancy Miller // Nov 23, 2005 at 2:02 am
Aaron Brown was the most intelligent, thought-provoking newscaster CNN had. Letting him go was the worse thing that CNN could have done. They will loose many viewers who enjoyed the calm, definitive style of Aaron Brown to the din and sonic shushing sounds of this AC 360. Aaron had class, allowed his guests to talk, never interrrupting and always spoke TO us never At us as so many of these new guys are doing as propagandists not really true newsmen as Aaron Brown has been and I’m sure will continue to be on whatever station is lucky enough to get hold of him!
49 Elizabeth Gladfelder // Sep 5, 2006 at 3:05 am
please find Aaron and bring him back
