I haven’t discussed this for a long time, but more bad news came down a few days ago in the case of the Seattle Times and the other paper in that city, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and their ugly joint operating agreement situation, which has been in a battle for years now, and could end with […]

March 12th, 2007 · 1 Comment
Last week, news came out that Ivan Safronov, a Russian journalist with Kommersant, a daily paper, died after falling out of a window. Word was that his death appeared suspicious, especially given the materials he had been investigating for a story had reportedly caused someone to “threaten” him.

CBS, NBC find a niche, what about ABC?
March 12th, 2007 · 2 Comments
For a few weeks now, I’ve been bouncing around the idea about how CBS and NBC have both made pretty big names for themselves with one type of programming or another, but ABC doesn’t exactly “stand for” anything, or at least have something to lean on. The theory is like this:’
CBS has its CSI set […]

Baristanet’s Gawker gawk
March 11th, 2007 · No Comments
Over at Baristanet, Liz George is questioning how Gawker wrote this post about the media, and how many of them live in Montclair, NJ, and didn’t mention Baristanet at all. Now obviously I’m a little biased as I do some work and correspond for Baristanet from time to time, but It’s kind of funny that […]

March 6th, 2007 · 3 Comments
NBC, in an effort to hold off hatred of its network for the fact that it will not show any more episodes of its hit show Heroes until April 23, wisely chose tonight to offer a glimpse into Spider-Man 3, which hits theatres this summer. Clicking here will take you to 7 minutes of “exclusive” […]

My advertising offer to the electronics retailer industry
March 2nd, 2007 · No Comments
While having a conversation with my colleague Chris Thilk this afternoon about this disaster featuring Best Buy’s “secret intranet” site that had different pricing when you were inside a Best Buy location that was not the same as the Internet site that you reached from outside the store, he mentioned the following:
Chris: now would be […]

Jennifer Love Hewitt has her Hanes on again
March 1st, 2007 · 1 Comment
Last summer, Jennifer Love Hewitt was sporting Hanes’ Perfect Panty in an advertising campaign that drew a few eyeballs, and it looks like she’s back on track to do some similar work this year for Hanes, this time for its new line of bras.
The ad campaign, set to go live tonight during FOX’s “American Idol,” […]
