The Media Drop

Well, here’s the nifty Web widget that JJ Abrams and the folks behind 1-18-08 have put together as part of a contest to promote the movie.

I’m with Chris, though, when it comes to how this is done. I’ll be curious to see how many people are responsible for getting others to pick up the widget from their sites, when everyone can have it pulled from their site. I, for one, would have pulled it from Chris’ post had he posted it, but just typed “cloverfield widget” into Google and went to the first result (Thanks, Trailer Addict) to find the one you’re looking at above. So maybe that site can get some traction, but won’t everyone that comes to this site that chooses to “enter” the contest then just pick it up from here, most likely? By default, theoretically the site with the most traffic normally and then via search will end up with the most embeds and win the contest, no?
