The Media Drop

Gawker Media has launched the newest blog in its stable, io9.com. io9.com is going to be all “about science fiction and futurism,” and will be helmed by Annalee Newitz (Wired, Popular Science), author Charlie Jane Anders, and Kevin Kelly, who some might know from Joystiq and Cinematical, among others, according to a note from Gawker Managing Editor Noah Robischon.

Shortly after posting a link to io9 on Twitter, I rec’d an IM mentioning that the sci-fi crowd might not be so happy-go-lucky wrt how Gawker typically treats its subject matter, and I can’t say that I didn’t think the same thing at first, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see, won’t we?
