For the last week, a ton of media coverage has been dedicated to the passing of Pope John Paul II. As the College of Cardinals is set to convene and vote on who will lead Catholics going forward, this may be the first time that a real, worldwide public sentiment could be gleaned as to who the next Pope should be, based on our telecommunications and Internet infrastructure.
As a way to try and grasp what people are thinking, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based attorney Patricia Dugan has launched a website, ElectAPope.com, to help educate people a bit about the papacy, offer insights into the rituals that have taken place in the last few days including Friday's funeral, and allow individuals to place their vote on who should be the next Pope. Dugan's unique interest is that she is one of a very few people in the U.S. who practices both Christian Canon Law and Civil Law, and is "connected" to Pope John Paul II in that both attended the Angelicum in Rome for their studies.
Don't be surprised to see Dugan on a news station near you in the next few days.
