You want transparency in journalism?

So, you're looking for transparency in journalism or a reason why journalists might like having a blog? Check out this post by Jackie Corley, a writer at The Courier, a local publication in Central New Jersey.

Jackie had written up an article about a town's mayor who was picked up on a DWI charge last week, a story that was bumped for something else. After that happened, she posted it to her blog. And yes, her superiors are okay with it having been published there.

Just in case anyone thought the pub was trying to "hold back" on the story getting out there at all, it appears that this isn't the case.

Oh dear - NOT FOUND!
So much for a pub trying to hold back a story.
Jackie Corley is a very talented writer who works for a paper that does not appreciate her talents. They are only interested in Jackie fronting the agenda they are churning out. It is my hope that she tires of this nonsense and find work at a reputable paper where she will allowed to grow into the writer she's destined to be.

FreedomOfSpeech -- Thanks for the, um, compliment, I guess.

Everything I know about journalism and news writing I've learned from my time at The Courier. I firmly believe we provide the most in-depth, accurate reporting of any newspaper in our coverage area. People speak of my paper having this over-arching, conspiring agenda. I've never really experienced that.

This piece getting pulled had to do with not screwing with the guy during the holiday season and before the court's decision, not the promotion of some ominous agenda. I disagreed with the decision, but I shouldn't have let my ego take over the way it did.

Tom -- Thanks for the linkage. Sorry to pull the post, it just got to be more grief than what it was worth. It was nice to meet you at your mom's swearing-in.
