Comment Policy

As comments are an integral part of the "discussion" nature on weblog-based sites, they are open for your use, perusal, and referral. In an effort to ensure that this site runs smoothly, please be aware that there is a policy for comments and trackbacks, and that comments and trackbacks are reviewed on a regular basis.

I have yet to delete one comment or trackback on a site that isn't spam-related or a trackback that is done merely for the sake of creating link-backs to the author's site purely to increase pagerankings in search engines like Google. I have no intentions of hindering anyone's free speech, and fully support your right to use it.

I have to credit Arve Bersvendsen, as his site interested me in doing so in the first place. With his permission, I've used some of the text directly from his policy, which, in turn, was inspired by the one at Dive Into Mark.

Comment or Trackback Spam

Spam of either type will not be tolerated. If I'm in a particularly harsh mood, or you are on your second or third comment/trackback spam, I will most likely ban your IP address, especially if it's assigned to you in a cable block, until I feel like removing it from the banned list.

If you have a comment that is related to the topic at hand, but your URL is spam (i.e. you don't work there and it's a blatant spam-related site), your URL will be removed.

Comment Timeline
At this time, I have left comments at The Media Drop open from here to eternity. If I find that the older comment sections begin to be attacked, I will take measures to address the issue, and will change the policy at that time. I am interested to hear what people have to say about things talked about a month or so ago, and look forward to doing so.

That's about all I have at this time. I don't feel that these requests are too out of line, and appreciate that you have taken the time to check out the policy here. Enjoy the site.

Welcome!

Well hello there, and welcome to The Media Drop.

I'll give a brief overview of what's going on here, and from there it's up to you what comes out of it. I've always had an interest in hearing from various folks in the media, such as television and radio broadcasters, journalists, and especially bloggers. What makes them tick, what they are into, and why they have such focus on certain topics, all the while attempting to stay impartial whenever possible. Since these folks are people too, they obviously have feelings and opinions that they aren't really supposed to be sharing in a piece, unless they are op-ed individuals or some of the blogger-pundits you read. I've always been curious to be able to talk to some of these folks, and hear what they have to say.

So I figured I would share this idea with everyone, see if I can get some folks to do an interview or six with me, and go from there. I'll take 'em however I can get them. Email, telephone, instant messaging device, SMS, whatever. If you've got suggestions or know someone who might be interested in getting interviewed, please send them to me at tom@themediadrop.com anytime.

I'm also just interested in covering the media as a whole - evolution, branding, corporate structure, among other things. So I'll be intermingling interviews (fingers crossed) with just regular coverage of that kind of stuff along with some coverage of stories of interest with our own spin.

Otherwise, look for this site to get a little more done up and prettified in the days and weeks to come. At the moment I'm concerned about content, which is, of course, king.
