I love print ads. Beyond the fact that I bought a lot of print ad space and got to see the ins and outs of it as I began my career in marketing, I always enjoyed print because it’s a non-verbal, non “heavy” way of getting your point across. Hitting that mark perfectly - or […]

What are you really looking for in an online dating site?
October 3rd, 2007 · 1 Comment
I can’t imagine that the guy from eHarmony will appreciate the latest spot from Lavalife, “Orgasms,” which asks people what they’re looking for in an online dating site.
Props to Brian Lee Hughes and Zig for this spot.

Hysterical Southwest ad
September 20th, 2007 · No Comments
On Wednesday, Engadget posted a hysterical ad (it seems legit, at least) for Southwest Airlines that you have to see to believe. Obviously it’s not really the Wii controllers (or PlayStation 3, for that matter, as the ad is described on Gamebrink), but it’s a freaking riot.

The Economist is everywhere

I thought it much that The Economist was over on LinkedIn (I’ve subscribed now), but now it seems they’ve taken big note of the online space, and have bought into an Allied Info from Thrillist. Nice.

From the “did they really just say that?” file comes a spot that’s been running for a few months now from Vitamin Water, featuring Kasey Kahne, who drives the #9 Dodge in NASCAR’s Nextel Cup Series. It features Kahne in what appears to be Tibet, working with some people in the country and building up […]

New Transformers theme gets redone

I just got an email from PR Newswire (who likes its cute little frame a bit too much), promoting its Times Square offering, where you can get your image on The Reuters Sign (yes, it’s all capitalized) through services the wire service is now rolling out. Looks like a pretty big grab, that gets closer […]

While having a conversation with my colleague Chris Thilk this afternoon about this disaster featuring Best Buy’s “secret intranet” site that had different pricing when you were inside a Best Buy location that was not the same as the Internet site that you reached from outside the store, he mentioned the following:
Chris: now would be […]

Jennifer Love Hewitt has her Hanes on again
March 1st, 2007 · 1 Comment
Last summer, Jennifer Love Hewitt was sporting Hanes’ Perfect Panty in an advertising campaign that drew a few eyeballs, and it looks like she’s back on track to do some similar work this year for Hanes, this time for its new line of bras.
The ad campaign, set to go live tonight during FOX’s “American Idol,” […]

Cartoon Network boss quits
February 9th, 2007 · No Comments
Chris Thilk just pinged me to let me know about Nikki Finke’s post about how Cartoon Network boss Jim Samples has walked the plank after the whole Mooninites / Boston / Adult Swim ish.
As Portland Press Herald staffer Justin Ellis quotes local graphic designer Sean Wilkinson as saying, “I think we should give our government […]
