Hilarity apparently ensued at the Cone household when Ed Cone apparently showed up in the News & Record’s “Out” list. Hilarity ensued in my brain when I read this comment by Kirk Ross on Cone’s blog, when he suggests that “most Lifestyle sections should be renamed “Herd.’”
Happy Birthday wishes are due to C.K. Sample, who […]

August 9th, 2007 · No Comments
Thilk sends along this story from today’s Chicago Tribune about how Tribune will be distributing - sans in-city boxes and newsstands - the Chicago Sun-Times on behalf of that publisher. But the kicker just so happens to be in the middle of Phil Rosenthal’s column:
Sources also said the Tribune’s profit from the arrangement will exceed […]

The latest on Tribune
February 12th, 2007 · No Comments
Sometimes it kind of bugs me that I link to the free articles in the WSJ so much, but maybe it shows how valuable of a publication that newspaper is. In any case, here’s the latest. Sarah Ellison and Dennis Berman have the lowdown on what is up with Tribune Co., and they inform that […]

I was too lazy to source it myself so I Googled it, okay!
February 9th, 2007 · 1 Comment
Taking a page out of the slacker handbook this week is apparently The Australian’s Frank Devine, who finds that sources are much more easy to get quotes from when you just Google the topic you are looking for, make a few key changes to the exact quotations and information that someone else acquired, and print […]

January 4th, 2007 · Comments Off
Wednesday heralded some bad news for editorial staffers at the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Associated Press reports, as 71 employees were laid off, effective January 17.
As we see more and more of these layoffs showing up, I’m wondering if it will herald the start of new daily publications of some note in these marketplaces, as […]
